spring cleaning

spring is here in michigan, although we did have flurries on sunday. my brother informed me michigan has a record on the books as having snow fall here for every day in the month of april. after experiencing the winter we just got through, that information sent me into a bug eyed 'WHAT?' ! please no , not this year.

the grass is greening, not completely there yet, and the sun shines much more and the days are longer and warmer. glory! with that pronouncement i have started some spring cleaning. it really began at my mom's. i cleaned her den. wiped down the walls, cleaned the chair rail and base boards. cleaned he light fixture and vacuumed. have to get to the book shelves and closet. i get a lot of satisfaction in cleaning. i better preface that with, when i do clean. doesn't it always seem more fun to clean someone else's stuff than your own. it does for me. it reminds me that isn't it easier to point out someone else's problems, sin and junk than our own. we just seem to get "satisfaction" at the knowing their issues and how they should fix them.

cleaning mom's den spurned me on to cleaning our family room. i did it in the same fashion and that was everything got dusted. i use that term "dusted" loosely because i hate to throw dust back into the air. my rag has to have something on it to trap the sneezy stuff. i have yet to "dust" the top of the armoire and wipe down inside my air vents. i really want to have a company come out and suck the vents. we get advertisements all the time and i really think it would keep the dust down.

back to my spring cleaning. my kitchen and family room open up to each other so that is my next project. i want to run all my "fine china" through the dishwasher and maybe rearrange things to make better use of space. i love my good dishes and i can't remember when i used them last. i need to change that.

i just looked at my stemware and the dust on them is greasy hiding the true lustre of the bright olive green they once were. dust and dirt know no boundaries just like the sin in our lives. if we don't keep it cleaned up it will take over and dull the lustre we were meant to have. we really need to stay current with Him. it is hard work. 2 cor 10: 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. . it begins there doesn't it, right in our minds. it can be dirty and greasy and the work makes us sweat but the benefits of our sweat equity is we are clean before Him standing as shining vessels reflecting the lustre he created us to be ready for Him to fill us up and use us.
